Big Win for Hormone Health: HRT Covered by National Pharmacare Starting March 1, 2026

Attention, BC! Starting March 1, 2026, menopausal hormone therapy — commonly known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) — will be covered 100% at the pharmacy counter through the new National Pharmacare Plan (Plan NP) for anyone enrolled in the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). That means no out-of-pocket costs for the medications that help manage perimenopause and menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, mood shifts, fatigue, and more.

This coverage change is a huge step forward for women’s health and quality of life in British Columbia — and we’re here to help you navigate it and make the most of this transformative policy.

💊 What HRT Medications Are Covered?

Under Plan NP, a defined list of menopausal hormone therapy products will be fully covered (and for some, partially covered) — with no special authorization required. That means when your doctor writes the prescription and you present it with your BC Services Card, eligible products are covered at $0 cost and your pharmacy cannot charge a dispensing fee or service fee.
